I lie when I say I don't remember. I do, in the nightmares that haunt me late at night. I remember perfectly, but how could I ever tell them that? I would have to face things I would rather leave buried in the past, and I don't know that I'll ever be ready to do that. To admit what I did to my Mercurial. That I killed the better part of myself.
I don't know how they found or why they chose us, because I was a paladin, and we were alone? I don't think that part matters anymore. I remember hearing Curie scream my name, and I instantly reached for my sword and didn't find it. Stupid me, I'd left it on Curie's elekk. We'd thought that we wer

The sound of heavy breathing broke the silence of the wooded area outside of the base. A figure tripped over a slightly protruding log and was sent spiraling into the loam. It muttered a curse and then stood back up looking around to see if anyone had heard.
The area is secure. said a glowing green construct appearing in mid air.
Thank you, D. muttered the man brushing a leaf from his shoulder.
May I ask a question? Asked Delta otherwise known as D.
Go ahead.&
While going out the door,
Into the world I know,
To be ever searching for more.
To fill the void at my core
To face any foe
While going out the door.
To any distant shore,
To let my soul grow,
To be ever searching for more.
To learn ancient lore,
To be guided by the flow,
While going out the door.
To let my wings soar,
To reap what I sow,
To be ever searching for more.
To give one mighty roar,
To prove what I know,
While going out the door,
To be ever searching for more.

Lets put a cat in a box.
Will it have locks?
Will the states be mixed on my hat?
To point out a paradox.
What about waves in the box?
What's the geiger counter at!
Lets put a cat in a box.
So while we have these talks,
Did the feline get a pat?
To point out a paradox.
Will we get a shock?
How's the cat, stat!

What is a metaphor for the soul,
That gives us wings to fly,
That makes us feel whole.
That lets us burn like fire to coal,
That lets us live, love, and die.
What is a metaphor for the soul?
To fill us like the empty bowl,
So that we feel time didn't pass us by.
That makes us feel whole.
To be loved as a whole,
To give us the sky,
What is a metaphor for the soul?
So as we sit on grassy knoll,
And wonder why...
That makes us feel whole.
And to go to our rest as the bells toll,
And as our thoughts do fly,
What is a metaphor for the soul,
That makes us feel whole?

What she sees....
The mercenary woman shifted her weight from foot to foot as she waited for the priestess to finish her analysis of the child. Houses of the Gods always made her nervous, all the rich furnishings and people muttering, it was enough to drive a veteran of a battle or two crazy. The woman had always found that if you really wanted the protection of the Gods a quick prayer on a patch of ground worked as well as any devotion in a temple.
Her musings on the subject were cut short though as the priestess returned from the small room where she'd led the girl.
Forgive me. the younger woman said bowing slightly to the mercenary.
The sun dipped low on the horizon tingeing the sky gold and pink. Aris sat on a bench in a roof top garden, and watched half fascinated by the colors as they slowly changed to darker shades of orange and purple. Her knees were drawn up tight to her chest allowing her to rest her head on them. A light breeze that came off the river that ran through the city played with her thick strawberry blonde hair which looked almost pink in the evening light. A few loose strands from her braid gently brushed against her face, and she slowly reached up and pushed them away, as tears began collecting in her blue eyes.
It had been almost a year since her
